Things You Need To Know When Installing WhisperKOOL XLT Wine Cellar Cooling Units

Prior to installing any of the self-contained cooling units in the WhisperKOOL XLT Series there are a few things that you need to know. This in no way is meant to replace or summarize the detailed instructions found in the owner's manual.

If you have or are intending on purchasing a self-contained cooling unit such as the WhisperKOOL 3000, you are probably aware of its' cooling capability but it is worth repeating. The unit should not exhaust to a room that will exceed a temperature of 85F if you intend to keep your wine cellar at the ideal temperature of roughly 55F.

The next issue involves selecting the proper strength unit. For example the WhisperKOOL 3000 is capable of efficiently cooling a properly contructed wine cellar of up to 650 cubic feet. However if your cellar has any design limitations such as glass doors, concrete, or brick walls and floors which do not offer the insulation capacity required to maintain an optimum wine cellar environment then you will want to select a more powerful model such as the WhisperKOOL XLT 4200.

You should ensure that there is unobstructed airflow to and from the unit when installed.Avoid the temptation to try to camouflage the unit by installing racking in front of it. There should be at least three feet of horizontal clearance in front of the unit to enable the unit to work efficiiently.

Also, make sure to mount the unit within 18 inches of the ceiling.Doing so will enable the cooling unit to effectively capture the warm air, since warm air rises, and replace it with cool air.As well it will be neccesary to have a dedicated electrical circuit installed by an electrician. This is necessary to ensure that the cooling unit has enough power to run effectively.

Hopefully these guidelines will be helpful as you prepare to install your WhisperKOOL self-contained cooling unit.
