How to calculate the number of tiles in a square metre
To calculate how many tiles (individual pieces) you need for your tiling project, follow our simple steps below or go to

Find out the exact size of the tile. In this example, we will use 40x20cm. |

Calculate the area of one tile by multiplying height by width. E.g. for a 40x20cm tile, the calculation will be 40cm x 20cm = 800 square cm. |

You also need to know how many square cm are in 1 square metre. This will always stay the same: 100cm x 100cm = 10,000 square cm. |

Now, you can work out the number of tiles in a square metre by diving 800 into 10,000. So, 10,000 divide by 800 = 12.5 tiles (40x20cm) in 1 square metre. |
